Education activities for health professionals.
RACGP-accredited education activities
There are 2 online education packages about breast cancer and breast screening that may be of interest to general practitioners and other primary healthcare professionals.
Both are worth 40 points of Accredited Activity under the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) Continuing Professional Development program.
Cancer screening education for general practitioners
This education package provides information about the 3 national screening programs for breast, bowel and cervical cancer.
The education package includes:
- a module regarding the BreastScreen Queensland program and the role that GPs play in promoting breast screening
- a module to support GPs in assessing breast cancer risk
- a podcast addressing common misconceptions about breast screening and the BreastScreen Queensland program.
You can find the education package on the True website. You don’t need a provider number to access it.
Breast cancer screening and diagnostic breast imaging
This module is designed to help GPs make decisions about appropriate breast imaging for screening and diagnostic purposes. This is based on evidence of effectiveness and potential harms.
The module is divided into 4 parts — general information on breast cancer, breast imaging modalities, screening, and diagnosis.
You can find the module on the RACGP's online learning platform, gp learning. It's only available to RACGP members.
